Have you got a Twitter feed on your website?

Jun 26th 2013

If your website has a Twitter Feed or widget, you might have found that it’s about to stop working! Twitter’s rolling out a new version of it’s API which will break compatibility for many websites displaying Tweets. Here’s what’s changing…

Have you got a Twitter feed on your website?

A Twitter Feed on your website is a great way to keep your website looking current and show people you’re active on Twitter.

Twitter Feeds use special script that read in your Twitter activity from Twitter using something called an API (Applications Programming Interface), and displays Tweets in real time on your website.

Twitter have started retiring the first version of their API in favour of a revised version that handles better security and authentication.

So what happens next?
If your website uses a Twitter feed widget that uses version 1.0 of the Twitter API, then it will stop working once the roll-out is complete.

The good news is, any website can be upgraded to use a Twitter Widget.
